Importance of Practicing

The importance of practice is widespread in all of golf and is the reason why many professional golfers are where they are in terms of the development of their game.

“I had to work bloody hard to get where I am at today.” -Colin Montgomerie

“All golfers at some time or another get to the stage where they feel that they have reached the limit of their capabilities and that they cannot improve any further.” -George Will

Professionals reach their status by practicing often, but practice does not all have to be done at the range or on a course. Quality practice can be done in the backyard with realistic practice mats and even outdoor putting greens.

Enjoying your Round

By becoming a better golfer, it is a lot easier to enjoy the game while playing since frustration plays less of a role in an average round due to a lack of mistakes being made.

“Playing golf is not hot work. Cutting sugar cane for a dollar a day- that’s hot work.” - Chi-Chi Rodriguez

“Golf is not, on the whole, a game for realists. By its exactitudes of measurement, it invites the attention of perfectionists.” -Heywood Broun

In order to get better the best thing to do is to practice as often as possible. The easiest way to accomplish this is to practice outside or in the backyard with realistic driving mats or hitting mats, and limited flight balls that show true flight without going hundreds of yards.
